About

Ruth Mac is a slacker rock artist from Galway, Ireland now based in Berlin. Her debut EP Living Room was released in 2021 on Beth Shalom Records.

With a sound described as “idiosyncratic soul-infused indie”, Mac’s music ties an engaging simplicity with thoughtful, off-kilter lyricism. Drawing influence in equal measure from folk singers of the seventies and contemporary rock, Mac’s distinctly raw vocals bring an intimacy to her effervescent indie tunes.

Mac’s music has been praised by the likes of Nialler9, Paste, HotPress, Essentially Pop, The Last Mixed Tape, Dublin City FM, 8Radio, and IndiePop Takeout. Following the release of her debut EP, Mac spent 2022 bringing her live show to Ireland, UK, and Germany, including support slots for English synth-pop legends Hot Chip and Irish folk duo Ye Vagabonds.

With the remainder of 2023 bringing new music and live dates across Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands, Ruth Mac’s journey is one to watch.

“Living Room won us over the moment we heard Mac’s idiosyncratic soul-infused pop-folk. Mac's music feels vital and unmissable - she's one of the best new acts we've heard in the last few years!” - The Folkroom, London

“An artist of texture and melody effortlessly moving between indie-rock, alt-soul and dream pop with a vocal style that draws on the best of 70s folk. Ruth's 'Living Room' EP has been on heavy rotation in The Black Gate office since its release - Mac most definitely has a big future in Irish indie music.” - The Black Gate, Galway
