About

Ruth Mac is a Berlin-based Irish songwriter whose work blends the narrative depth of folk with the grit of alternative rock. Known for lyric-forward storytelling, deadpan humour, and disarming honesty, her music deconstructs modern anxieties with a unique, observational wit.

Her debut EP, Living Room (Beth Shalom Records), earned critical acclaim from Paste, HotPress, and Nialler9, alongside international radio play on BBC 6 Music and RTÉ 2FM. A commanding live act, Mac has toured extensively across Europe, selling out headline shows in London and Berlin, and securing high-profile support slots for major international artists including Hot Chip, The Big Moon, and Ye Vagabonds. Her industry momentum is further reflected in her selection as a Keychange 2025 Leader, a showcase at Ireland Music Week, and being named a "One to Watch" by the Irish Times and Irish Independent.

Firmly embedded in the Berlin grassroots scene, Mac is now preparing for the 2026 release of her debut album, Dancing in Straight Lines. Translating the kinetic energy of her live set into a definitive studio statement, the record explores the exhausting myth of linear progress and the freedom found in life’s natural cycles.
